Solar Village Maple

The Rocky Mountain Home Association was the sponsor of the talk and they had the following to say in their recent fall newsletter: 

"Mark Kostovny of Solar Village Homes was one of the featured speakers at the Housing Colorado Conference in Breckenridge Colorado.   As stated by Mark, one of the goals of his architecture firm, Solar Village Homes, is to provide near zero energy, sustainable modular homes without the usual extremely high price tag i.e. “Green for Regular People”. He spent some time discussing what “green” means to Solar Village, such as passive heating and cooling, efficient systems, (92%+ gas furnace, HRV, tankless water heater), efficient lighting and energy star appliances, as well as active solar systems.

In addition, Mark discussed an affordable housing project they are designing for Thistle Community Housing in Boulder. In this project they have designed family homes based on the following goals: affordable LEED certified homes, passive solar design, quality construction, easily repeatable for the future, and a greater control on costs.

They are working with All American Homes for the Thistle Project and also offer turnkey solar homes through them as well. Mark explained why they have focused their architecture firm on designing solar homes and multi-family projects that best maximize factory performance and efficiencies as well as the importance of siting the homes or buildings properly to take advantage of passive heating and cooling.
